A Time To... Volume 2 with two of my stories is now available at the Wolfsinger Storefront.  A review by Fiction Factor Reviews says: Carol Hightshoe continues to amaze me with the quality of stories she chooses for her e-zines (Sorcerous Signals and The Lorelei Signal). She's brought another delightful collection together to commemorate the second year of publication. In "A Time To… Volume 2" the stories are well-written, thought provoking and moving. While many of the authors are new, their style and delivery is rich and strong.
...
And about my story: Too often I hear people say that they can't relate to science fiction or fantasy because it has nothing to do with the real world, but Marva Dasef showcases how socially oriented fantasy can be with her story "THE DELEGATE." Even androids can have "a dream" of being human and their struggles can mirror our own world.*
* Marva says:The Delegate is Science Fiction although the anthology tends toward Fantasy. My other story, A Visit to Potter's Field, is pure fantasy or should I say humorous horror.

Wondrous Web Worlds #7 with "Fish Story," a little tail (I mean tale) about a strange species of fish on an alien world.

Chapter 1 from my WIP "Bad Spelling" is on this page.

 04/28/08

The Cursed Valley appears in the May issue of Sorcerous Signals.  Check it out on May 1st.

"Lord Tain, the centaur Lord of the Valley, imposes the death sentence on an evil wizard.  The curse that follows changes the life of all of the magical beings in the valley."

04/24/08Through the Miracle of Discounting, Amazon is now offering  Tales of a Texas Boy at a lower price than I can sell it for: $9.86! With Amazon's free shipping on orders over $25, this is a real bargain folks!  Just pick up a copy of Tales when you're buying that Best Seller you've had your eye on.
04/15/08I heard from my Cadida publisher that he's going to start working on it.  The Seven Adventures of Cadida is about 42,000 words of genie and demon mayhem.  See the two Cadida chapbooks to the right?  The book has those, plus another five tales, each one crazier than the last.
03/07/08A Time To... Volume 2 will become available about mid-month.  See the cover and blurbs here on Lorelei Signal. When it is available, I'll post the links on My Book Catalog. I have two stories in this one.
02/08/08I've added a link to the first chapter of "Bad Spelling."  I also pasted in my query letter for "Quest for the Simurgh."  Check it out in Works in Progress.   Look at the Excerpts page for a bit of Quest for the Simurgh.
01/30/08Or some such date.  I added two more stories to the AnthologyBuilder site.  "Jonathan Swift Finds Nemo," which first appeared in 5th Story Review and "Big Bessie's Place," which first appeared in Green Silk Journal.
01/14/08The Seven Adventures of Cadida will be published by Sam's Dot Publishing sometime in the Summer of 2008.
01/08/08I just heard from Carol Hightshoe that "A Time To..." (Best of anthology from Lorelei Signal) has been nominated for a James Tiptree Jr. award.  The Tiptree awards go to the best science fiction or fantasy dealing with gender issues.
01/01/08The new year started well with the acceptance of my story "The Cursed Valley" to the May-July Sorcerous Signals (sister zine to Lorelei Signal).
12/19/07My reprint story "If You Could See Her" is now available at Anthology Builder.  Put together a customized anthology from the posted stories.  A couple of names you might recognize: Jim C. Hines and Mary Robinette Kowal .  And me, of course.
12/15/07Wondrous Web Worlds #7 is now available from The Genre Mall.  Yes, I have a story in it.  See the link on My Book Catalog.
12/15/07And the good news continues.  The anthology "A Time To..." in which one of my stories is published was nominated for an Eppie Award.  Yay for Carol Hightshoe.  Then, Carol just let me know that two more of my stories will appear in "A Time To..." Volume 2, which will be published in Spring 2008.  Yay for Carol redux!
12/6/07"First Duty," a science fiction novella, was accepted for publication by Sam's Dot Publishing.  It's scheduled for a June 2008 release.
12/6/07I received notification that "Tales of a Texas Boy" was nominated for a Cybils award in the middle-grade fiction category.
11/17/07Weirdly is now available in print at Amazon and Barnes & Nobel
9/30/07The Delegate, a science fiction story, is in the October/November issue of Lorelei Signal. Lee Kuruganti's illustration is fabulous!  The story is included in A Time To... Volume 2.
9/21/07Tales of a Texas Boy as an ebook is now available from Cantarabooks.

Tales of a Texas Boy is a Cybils Award nominee in the middle-grade fiction category.  Unfortunately, it didn't make the cut to the finals, but the nomination is an honor in itself.

Tales of a Texas Boy: How do you handle a crazy jackass? Eddie knows. If you asked Eddie, he'd tell you pigs can fly and show you where to find real mammoth bones. Take his word for it when he tells you always to bet on the bear. These are things he learned while dreaming of becoming a cowboy in West Texas during the Depression. Through Eddie, the hero of "Tales of a Texas Boy," we find that growing up is less about maturity and more about roping your dreams. Hold on tight. It's a bumpy ride.

Cadida and the Cave DemonWeeks after Cadida, the daughter of a rich merchant, escapes from the clutches of a band of raiders, she decides she'd better return to the cave, where she had been held prisoner, to see if the raiders had captured some other poor soul. She summons her Djinn, Bascoda, to guide her back to the cave. Cadida, Bascoda, and Sheik, her dog, return to the cave where she was held captive. They find someone in the cave, but not a prisoner as they expected. Cadida, Bascoda, and Sheik take on the raiders again to help a very lonely demon find a new home.

Cadida and the Djinn: What's a bored little rich girl to do? Why, get herself captured by raiders and thrown into a cave to be sacrificed to a demon, that's what. She soon discovers there isn't a demon, but a Djinn named Bascoda on the lookout for a new master. After that? She has to figure out for herself how to escape from the raiders. Her brand-new genie proves less than useful and a handsome sheik doesn't come to her rescue. Having to rely on her own wits, she discovers she's more resourceful than she knew.
