| Last Updated: 07/21/2010 Here's where I tell you what I'm working on. These may be something that never see the light of day elsewhere. Nevertheless, I'm expending energy on them. Missing, Assumed Dead: Something a little different: Mystery/Suspense. Kam McBride never heard of the dead man until she received the letter naming her as his only heir. She has no interest in traveling to a remote town in eastern Oregon. However, her mother recalls a photo of the man in the family album and urges Kam to take advantage of a potential inheritance. When she arrives in the little town, she finds herself in a surreal world filled with nervous and evasive people. She discovers that her relative had vanished and his body never found. Hints and clues pile up until she realizes someone had murdered him, and his killer is now stalking her. Final word count: 42,000 Witches of Galdorheim Series The Witches of Galdorheim 1 - Having a Bad Spell: All of Kat’s family are either witches or warlocks, depending on their sex, of course. Kat is fourteen (or 15 or 16, whatever age works) and really ought to be able to turn a rabbit into a toad, but things just don’t work out for her. What she gets is a slimy green hopper. That’s the good part. Unfortunately, it also has long ears and fur. That’s bad spelling. 41K words The Witches of Galdorheim 2 - Land of the Midnight Oil: The further adventures of Kat as she races to find her boyfriend, kidnapped by a forest spirit seeking revenge on her sister air spirit. Katya gets caught up in the war of the elementals. If you like the Loch Ness monster, Selkies, dragons, volcanoes, and other cool stuff, you'll like this book. 47K words. The Witches of Galdorheim 3 - Scotch Broom: Kat is all set for her Winter Abroad, the trip for graduating witches. She's going to spend Samhain at Stonehenge and couldn't be more excited. However, she gets waylaid into the Otherworld, the magical realm coexisting within the Scottish Highlands. She's trying to find her way out, except a certain evil being is determined to steal Kat's magic for her own. 47K words. Quest for the Simurgh Now for sale on Amazon in both print and Kindle formats. See My Book Catalog. The Faiza Chronicles - Quest for the Simurgh - 37,000 Word Middle Grade Fantasy: QUEST FOR THE SIMURGH's world is far away from Hogwarts, Euro-centric fantasy, and Middle Earth. However, it contains the themes of friendship, sacrifice, and the age-old conflict between good and evil common to most juvenile fiction. Complete at 37,000 words, this is a middle-grade fantasy novel, set in the Aladdinesque world of Persian mythology. The story follows four teenage friends who are drawn into a war between the gods and demons. The Faiza Chronicles - The Tablet of Destinies: Definitely a working title here. I might follow up on Quest for the Simurgh, since I've grown fond of the main character in that book. Plot is a bit rough right now, so I'll wait to post until it gels a bit. Just FYI, the Tablet of Destinies is from Mesopotamian mythology. It gives the possessor dominion over the entire Cosmos. You might imagine that it falling into the wrong hands would be a very bad thing. I'm putting this on the back burner in favor of the Bad Spelling sequel. | |
